Domingo 7 Agosto

Hola todos !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY !!!

Buena noche !

Sábado 6 Agosto

Hola que tal ?

Woke up at 5am, get up at 5.30am and in the bus at 6am, it is really really early to take a bus... even for a temple, I was a bit moody in the bus and still sleepy ! After 1 hour and a half, we arrive in Uxmal, unfortunately, the site open at 8am... (but we knew it). So we took our breakfast in front of the main entrance.

At 8.10am (mexicanos are not really ponctual) they open the ticket booth, we bought our tickets, and were the 1st ones to cross the ground of this magical place !! I am glad we woke up so early because at the beginning we were nearly on our own, and that was really nice, especially because I love to take pictures with no one on them !!! To know more about UXMAL it's HERE (coming soon).

The place is big and really nice, lot's of shade and bulding to see, we were even able to climb most of them. I run out of space on my SD card (grrrrrrrrrrr), so we were sharing Damien's SD card, because I like the colours on my camera.

Faune and flora : because it was really early in the morning, we woke up a few birds, which are living inside the structure and chambers of the ruins, especially swallow birds. We also saw bees and their hive. And of course plenty of iguanas !

And we met an hungry one, who ran after me when I opened the food bad to eat something, I hide inside a "room" but was stuck because the iguana did not wanted to move and let me leave my hiding place. It was quite funny and scary at the same time, Damien had a good laugh.

the hungry iguana waiting for me to get out of my hiding place

We finished the visit around 11.30am, we new there was a bus at 12 on the main road, so we went there and waited for it. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes, so we were playing, doing sudoku by timing ourself, and listening to some music. Back to Merida where we ate, slept and I also bought a USB key, to put my pictures on it and empty my SD cards. Then we went back home, because both of us were feeling sick.

We went out again in the evening, went on an internet cafe, to put my pictures on the USB key, and check emails and then walk in the street by night, it's quite nice, especially during the week-end because they close the streets. We saw a wedding at 10pm in a small church, quite unusual, saw the university, other churches ...

Time to go to bed !

PS: I have been in Mexico for 6 weeks ! (6/9)

Viernes 5 Agosto

Jueves 4 Agosto

Hola !

Today we woke up really early, the driver from the travel agency came to pick us up at 6am in front of our hostel, we also pick up his wife and here we go, on our way to Calakmul. 3 hours and a half later, after a quick breakfast break we were in Balamku. More infos about Balamku HERE (coming soon).

After 1 hour in Balamku, we went back in the car and headed south to Calakmul. I heard about that hidden place thanks to Robin (the french guy I met in the plane and visit Mitla). We drove for one hour into the jungle, going deeper and deeper into it.Once there the driver left us in the main entrance, it was really strange, just a small "house" with one desk.

Once inside the site, we decided to eat first and then to start our adventure in the jungle. The site is really big, and really lost in the middle of nowhere. We climbed a few temples, and had an amazing view, kilometers of jungle surrounding us !! To know more about the site of Calakmul it's HERE (coming soon).

Damien mocking me, because I'm scared of highs

During our walking and climbing, Damien cut his toe... it was bleeding quite a lot, so a bit scary, but according to him it did not hurt at all, just annoying because the blood became stiky with the heat.
the INCIDENT ! Damien cut one of his toes

While we were resting on a quite place, we encountered real wild monkeys !!! That was quite impressive, I even stop breathing for a while, because I did not want to scare them. I think they were 5, jumping from tree to tree, from branch to branch coming toward us. And then they suddently stop and went back from where they were coming.

After 3 hours and 30 minutes in the site, we were exhausted and went back in the car, after a few minutes drive in the jungle we both fall asleep, exhausted ! We were back in Campeche around 7pm. The rest of the evening wasn't much,  we ate junk food and  went to bed quite early.

buenas noches !

Miércoles 3 Agosto

Buenos Dias !

We woke up really late, ate a bit and then went out, we decided to visit the cathedral that we could see from the window of the hostel, across the Zocalo. There is an interior small courtyard, with an entrance to a tiny museum of relics and in the courtyard there is 3 nice bells in a bleu and white background.

Buenas noches amigos
